Dr. Natalia Ferreira has been the Managing Director of Oxitec do Brasil Ltda. since December 2017, with responsibility for managing all the country operations including technology transfer, production, field deployment, regulatory & governmental affairs and stakeholder engagement, in addition to legal and compliance. Natalia received a PhD in Genetics and Molecular Biology from State University of Campinas, Brazil, and has worked as R&D/Molecular and Synthetic Biology leader in the private biotechnology companies Amyris Biotechnologies and Braskem S.A. for 5 years. Natalia has also served for 3 years as a Research Associate and Pipeline Leader in the public sector, working for University of Campinas and EMBRAPA, the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation.
Natalia joined Oxitec do Brasil in 2016 and led R&D & technology transfer projects for 1.5 years before moving to a strategic role, structuring the Brazil operations for Oxitec’s first commercial launch, the Aedes do Bem™ product, in October 2021.
Natalia lives in Campinas, Brazil with her husband Felipe and their two daughters, Ana Clara and Beatriz.
