Our Vision

Our vision is a world free from burdens caused by insects that transmit diseases and destroy crops achieved by using safe and sustainable technologies.  

We seek to democratize the fight against these insects by making our technologies accessible to a broad and diverse range of stakeholders, including those who are underrepresented, marginalized, disadvantaged or excluded. 

We believe that we can achieve the elimination of vector-borne diseases in our lifetimes and that we can effectively and sustainably control crop pests in the face of growing demand for agricultural productivity and food security. 

Our Company 

Oxitec is a US-owned company with headquarters and R&D facilities in the UK, just a few miles from where we started at Oxford University with a team of passionate individuals from 15 countries.  

While we’re an advanced biotechnology company with multiple large-scale technology programs underway, we foster a start-up-like climate within our organization, empowering our people with the freedom and ownership for doing amazing things in a supportive, collaborative environment.  

We remain committed to our start-up roots in Oxford, where we operate our headquarters and R&D facilities, with global efforts around the world, including in our large facilities in Brazil near São Paulo, and USA offices.  

Today’s Oxitec is built on a rich history created by hundreds of innovative individuals, to whom we are thankful. 

We do our work with a commitment to safety, effectiveness, scientific integrity, and transparency. Oxitec’s technology has been studied and validated by independent researchers, academics, and independent collaborators for more than 15 years, with more than 100 scientific, peer-reviewed papers published on our work.
