Jackson Nyarko
Field Operations Manager, Oxitec Djibouti
Jackson Nyarko is a dedicated Field Operations Manager at Oxitec, leading Oxitec’s efforts in research and field trials to fight malaria vectors in Djibouti – a collaborative flagship Djibouti Friendly Mosquito Programme (DFMP) by the Djibouti government and Oxitec. With expertise in Vector Biology and Integrated Pest Management, Jackson is passionate about developing innovative strategies to combat disease vectors and promote public health.
His academic background includes an MPhil in Entomology (Vector Biology) from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, along with specialized training in Agroecology and Sustainable Agriculture from the Songhai Regional Center, Republic of Benin, and Human Resource Development from the Institute of Commercial Management, UK.
Before joining Oxitec in 2022, Jackson worked as a Research Assistant and Quality Assurance Manager at the CREC-LSHTM Collaborative Research Programme in Benin,
where he played a critical role in evaluating vector control products, conducting quality assurance audits, and developing SOPs for improved laboratory practices.
Beyond his role at Oxitec, Jackson is active contributor to environmental sustainability and public health initiatives through EcoCare Waste Initiative that he co-founded which focuses on environmental sustainability advocacy in Africa; and as an UNLEASH Plus Mentor, guiding teams in developing solutions aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Jackson is a published researcher and an active member of professional networks, including PAMCA, MESA, UNLEASH, Entomology Society of Ghana, and a faithful adherent of Jesus Christ.
Jackson is based in Djibouti city with his wife Margaret, where he manages our operations across the country, and enjoys running in the evenings in the empty streets of Djibouti.
