Oxitec is Serving One of Brazil's Most Celebrated Football Clubs

Oxitec proudly announces a new partnership with one of the biggest football teams in Brazil, Club Botafogo, celebrated for producing world-famous players such as Garrincha, Nilton Santos and Zagallo. 

In the midst of one of the most serious dengue outbreaks in Brazil, the club has pioneered the adoption of an innovative and sustainable solution to combat the Aedes aegypti mosquito. Starting in November, Oxitec’s Friendly Aedes aegypti™ boxes were installed at the club’s headquarters in Rio de Janeiro, releasing our non-biting Friendly™ male mosquitoes to protect its players, partners and employees.

Oxitec's CEO, Grey Frandsen, commented after meeting with the president of Botafogo: “This partnership is the realization of an important goal, because the president of Botafogo - Durcesio Mello - and I share the belief that companies, teams and inspiring brands have a key role to play in mobilizing communities and countries to tackle major challenges like dengue.”
