Grey Frandsen, General Manager
Grey Frandsen joins Oxitec with significant strategic leadership and management experience in both the public and private sectors. Following a range of positions in the U.S. Government, including Chief of Staff of the Office of Stabilization Operations and Senior Foreign Policy Advisor in the United States Senate, Grey transitioned to leadership roles in the private sector.
As President and Chief Solutions Officer of Olfactor Laboratories, Inc., Grey led the development of novel vector-control technologies, including the global breakout Kite brand. He has also served as a senior advisor during the Federal response to the Zika crisis in Puerto Rico and authored a new vector-borne disease-focused public engagement framework for the Caribbean Regional Public Health Agency.
Grey is a Senior Advisor and Adjunct Faculty at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF); board chairman of Pilgrim Africa; board director of the Frederick Cuny Memorial Center; and the founder and chair of the Caribbean Emergency Vector Control Network. Grey and his work have been featured on CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera, MSNBC, NY Times (called the “mosquito mercenary”), Washington Post, NPR, Financial Times, Forbes, Fast Co., and others.
Grey received his BA with honors at UCLA and an MA at the Johns Hopkins University School for Advanced International Studies (SAIS), where he was graduate student president and the Osgood Memorial Fellow.
Simon Warner, Chief Scientific Officer
Simon has eighteen years of global commercial experience in biotechnology R&D in various roles at Syngenta in the United Kingdom and the United States, leading collaborative programs and delivering biotechnology products in crops for feed and fuel. Additionally, whilst at Syngenta he also worked as the R&D lead on technology acquisition on various agreements.
Immediately prior to joining Oxitec, he was Senior Director of Research and Development Programs at Sapphire Energy, a start-up making algae based fuel, based in San Diego, California. Simon has a BSc in biochemistry from UCL and PhD in plant molecular biology from the University of Leicester.
Tricia Whitmore, Head of Regulatory Affairs
Tricia has over twenty-five years of international regulatory experience. She joins us from DuPont Industrial Biosciences where she most recently held the position of Senior Regulatory Affairs Manager, responsible for leading the regulatory clearance of animal feed additives in the EU, Middle East, Africa (EMEA) and Canada.
